Backup and disaster recovery

Recovering a dead disk is emergency work. Copying files beforehand, testing them, and knowing who restarts what: that is the day-to-day we put in place.

The lost data recovery page is the aftermath: failed disk, USB stick, dead NAS. This page is beforehand. HAGEN ENTREPRISE helps small firms keep a usable copy, not only a green LED on a box in the same office.

A simple rule, often skipped

Three copies, two kinds of media, one copy off-site (3-2-1 in the useful sense, not a slide). A NAS in the workshop that gets encrypted with the PCs is not a backup. A USB disk in a drawer, never plugged in, is not tested.

  • What to back up: accounts, mail, site photos, business databases — not “the whole C:” by habit.
  • How often: daily for what changes, rarer for archives.
  • Test: restore one folder each quarter, write down the date.
  • Who holds the vault password, and what happens if that person is away.

Ransomware and restart

A recovery plan fits on one page: boot order, accounts to revoke, where the clean copy is, who tells customers. Cybersecurity lowers the odds; backup isolates a copy the attack does not reach. IT consulting fits this to the real estate, not an all-in-one product pitch.

What we do not promise

No backup replaces access policy. No restore is 100% if the only copy was already corrupt. We say that before the invoice.
